Antiques expert and TV personality, Kate Bliss, presented the Hereford Times Food & Farming Awards event via social media last week.
“The key to a good farm shop is not only the range of products and the layout but also the principles that it supports.” Said Kate.

“We were looking for the produce sold to be fresh and grown, picked or reared on the farm itself or from specialist producers in the local area. Often know as ‘The Harrods of Herefordshire’ the food hall at Oakchurch Farm Shop specialises in local food. It’s a culinary showcase for more then 90 local food and drink producers and for the ready-meals, sausage rolls, cakes and much more that’s all made on-site.”

Oakchurch Farm Shop have constantly enjoyed a phenomenally successful history for awards for their food.

Achieving eight new awards to add to their existing twelve Great Taste Wards just last year. One of which being a 3-star award, the highest you can get, which means the product was described by judges as extraordinarily tasty, for its Raspberry Sorbet.

“Absolutely delighted with the news about the Hereford Times Best Farm Shop Award.” Said Nick Price.

“We count ourselves to be so lucky to be in rural Herefordshire where great tasting food and drink is readily available and in great abundance, right here on our doorstep. The fertile Herefordshire soil makes such a difference to the quality and the flavour and we’re so proud to be able to support fellow local farmers, growers, producers and food & drink suppliers that we know and trust.”

    • Well deserved awards. From small strawberry and raspberry beginnings down by roadside! My aunt Mrs Rose Jones from Bishopstone used to go with her sister years ago. Lovely to have good fresh food from the locality. Congratulations to your family.
